A martingale will help you take control of your horse’s head, preventing him from throwing his head too high and help you to maintain steering and to prevent you from being hit in the face!

If you are not sure which martingale to use, a standing martingale attaches the noseband to the girth and is particularly useful for a horse that tosses or inverts its head.

A running martingale is more complex as it attaches from the girth or breastplate to the reins, so is less restrictive and considered safer especially for cross country or jumping.
